The Aggies Gear Up Their '64 GMC School Bus

12th Man Tailgaters Tailgate BusThe 12th Man Tailgaters from Texas A&M have turned their tailgate bus conversion project into their own version of 'Monster Garage.' They started off by buying a vintage 1964 GMC School Bus, which was acquired all the way in Springfield, Illinois. The soon-to-be tailgate machine, was hauled over 1000 miles to get it back to its new home in College Station, Texas. Some may think that this was a bit of an overkill, but as one of the owners simply explains, "We wanted an old bus...something different."

Aaahhh OOOOOgaaaa: The GT Tailgate Bus

The GT Tailgate BusIn 2004, a small group of creative Georgia Tech alums "ended up with" a 1984 school bus. While sitting around a campfire one night, discussing the finer things in life, they decided to turn it into the ultimate Georgia Tech football tailgating machine, and the GT Tailgate Bus was born.

The exterior was painted to match the Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech, a 1930 Ford Model A Sports Coupe, which has lead the football team onto the field at Bobby Dodd Stadium since 1961. Some liberty was taken on the hood of the Bus, which sports white flames!

Mobile Dawg Pound: A Tailgate Legend

Mobile Dawg PoundAs a general contractor, Tony Schaefer, has built many structures, but yet there is one that stands above them all..."The Mobile Dawg Pound!" That's right, an old yellow school bus he purchased when the Browns were reborn. It replaced a smaller bus used during the Browns' years playing their games on the hallowed grounds of Municipal Stadium.

"I figured a new team, a new bus," Tony said, "Plus the season ticket holders in the Sandusky area grew from around sixteen to more than thirty-four."

The bus is painted brown and orange from top to bottom. Its name, "Mobile Dawg Pound" is scripted over the front windshield, and gracing the hood is a Mack dog wearing a Browns' helmet which squirts water approximately 12 feet!

The Bengal Bus Tears Through Cincinnati

Bengals Tailgate BusThe Bengal Bus, which is owned by Buck, Nick, and Bill, began its service in 1984 as an oridanry 44 passenger yellow school bus in a local service.

The entire inside and outside of the bus was converted to a tasteful orange and black Bengal's decor. The inside dons picnic tables and other seating areas all accessorized to the max. The Bengal Bus even carries autographs inside the bus of current and former Bengal's players. The outside paint job was professionally completed using a masking process at a local body shop. However, finding help to complete this tailgate machine was not a tough task, as it turned into a neighborhood project with cookout and all.

Guide to Buying a Tailgate Machine

Eagles Tailgate VehicleAlthough the thought of buying a tailgate machine may seem absurd to some (I don't know who either), it can seem like a worthwhile expense in the quest for the world's greatest tailgate. However, shopping for a vehicle that will strictly be used to stuff as many of your friends (and attach a couch to the top) is a bit different from buying your standard Honda Civic. Below are a couple points to consider when shopping for the mega-beast of tailgating:
