Here is the Arrowhead Assault Vehicle.  Roger Michler and his crew have been season Ticket holder for about 20 years.

The assault vehicle came about in 2010, and features a 32" Flat screen TV with Dish network satellite.  There is a 10 speaker surround sound system, a 5 foot long modified grill with custom swing away bracket, retractable cooler for the bar and a lot of one off custom graphics.

They did all the work themselves, and have been featured by the KC Chiefs.

Tailgating Command Unit: The Ambulance From TCU

The Tailgating Command Unit, aka the Frogmobile is a family affair.  Owned by brothers Tom and Tim Gibbons, and their wives Lorie (Tom's) and Jackie (Tim's), this rig was bought in 2005.

After about a year fixing it up, this rig has become a fixture at TCU home games, as well as some away games (Clemson, Norman, Austin, Phoenix, and Pasadena).  The ambulance was in good working condition when purchased, needing no repairs on the body, engine, or generator.

Inside the Tailgating Command Unit is new purple and white upholstery, with the TCU logo embroidered in the seat backs.  New paint and decals soon followed, as well as custom shirts and coozies bearing the Frogmobile logo.

The TCU is equiped with DirecTV, 36" flat panel and a 1250 watt sound system.  Internal storage is occupied with tents, chairs, coolers and grills.

The TCU has also been used for a get away vehicle for two different weddings.

You can follow the Tailgating Command Unit at their website, http://frogmobile.net.

Iowa State Van: The Suck

Here is the story of the Iowa State van known as "The Suck".

The owners are Gregg & Connie Horsman, Doug Johnson, and Tim Johnson. They bought the 1987 turtle top Dodge van on ebay from a Dallas, TX, couple in March of 2007.

Work began by removing the stove, refrigerator, and rearranging the bench seats so shelves could be added to hold our tents, chairs, coolers, etc... We use our ipod to provide tuneage through the upgraded tuner, amp, & speakers.

The self designed vinyl wrap was applied in August, 2008. Tailgating is huge at ISU and we love being a part of it. The family that tailgates next to us, liked our set up so much they got their own vinyl wrapped tailgating van.

If you're in Ames for a football game, stop by C6 for cold beverages!

Notre Dame Tailgate Bus

This sweet tailgate rig is a 1997 former school bus for the city of South Bend.  Dale Luers, Steve Lindhorn and Larry Knefely took this bus from start to finish in 7 weeks, 10 days of which was at paint.  This work was done for Mark Smith, owner of Great Lakes Forest Products.  They have all been tailgating at Notre Dame for many years.

The exterior of this bus sports a custom paint job as well as 2 Margaritaville bumper grills welded together, an 18’ blue and gold awning, a 46” LED TV on a custom swing arm bracket and a TwinVision Mobile Light sign.

The interior is completely loaded with 2 15” LED TVs over the bar in back and a flip down 26” LED TV at the front.  It has an Astroturf floor with blue and gold vinyl from floor to ceiling.  There are 2 flip sofas, 2 reclining euro chairs and three bar stools in blue and gold vinyl.  The bar and coffee tables are topped with LG solid surface countertops.  The bar is equipped with a Kegerator, a microwave and wall mounted stereo / DVD player.  The bus is satellite ready and has a powered digital roof mount antenna for local TV coverage.

All of this is powered by a Yamaha 6300w inverter generator.

This bus can be seen at All Notre Dame home games and look for it at the Notre Dame vs. Michigan game this year tailgating at "The Big House"......."GO IRISH"!!!!!!!!!!

The Big Ship Gets Ready for Buffett

Last November, we did a story on The Big Ship, which was about the owner, Mick Roulet, and the custom paint jobs he gives his tailgating RV every year before Jimmy Buffett concerts. Well, he's back, and this time he is showing us what it takes to re do the paint job on his famed camper.

Below are photos from the Big Ship through the years:

"Silent Willie" Made Debut For Rutgers Last Night

Over the last couple of years, we’ve been able to share plenty of Tailgating Rigs with you. We’ve seen owners turn old school buses into insane tailgating machines, and we’ve seen them turn RV’s into elaborate party palaces. However, we’ve never seen an old school bus get converted into a tailgating RV. Meet “Silent Willie,” an old school bus turned tailgating RV by a couple of Rutgers fans that wanted a vehicle that not only tailgated for home games, but away games as well.

SMU Mustang Trailer Takes New Shape

SMU Mustang Tailgating Trailer

After speaking with Robert Mims from Imagi-Motive a few weeks ago, I realized that they are way ahead of the curve when it comes to customizing tailgating vehicles. Take for instance, the SMU Tailgating Trailer, which is their newest model. In the past, tailgate trailers have always been designed around the standard box-trailer design. This is fine, if you are using the trailer to haul around some lawn mowers or a couple of Harleys. But when you want to use a space for a particular purpose, you need to start from scratch. Imagi-Motive has decided to forgo that old boxed-in design, and construct these trailers to spec. Some of the features of the SMU Tailgating Trailer shown above include a flat screen TV, satellite dish, surround speaker system, keg tap system, cup dispenser, wet bar, and swing-out grill.
