"Why Didn't I Think of That Award"

The winner of this year's "Why Didn't I Think of That Award" is the Cap-A-Cooz. We've seen beer bottle openers on flip-flops so why not the most obvious choice of all: a koozie! This tailgate gadget is also great for the pool or the boat. I don't if you have ever tried to twist off a beer cap after being in the water a few hours, but take it from me (someone who has), not a good outcome.

Turn Fruits Into Shot Glasses with ShotCarver

Lush Life Shot CarverWith Jimmy Buffett’s “Summerzcool Tour” getting ready to kick off its summer leg in Arizona in a couple of weeks, we had to bring out a gadget geared to all those ParrotHeads out there.

Introducing LushLife’s ShotCarver.

The ShotCarver turns almost any fruit into a tasty tropical shot glass. Simply insert the ShotCarver into a fruit such as an apple, twist, and voila, an instant shot glass size hole. Then fill with an adult beverage, and bottoms up.

Making a Vodka Watermelon:

The ShotCarver is also great for carving holes into Vodka Watermelons. To create a Vodka Watermelon, open a hole in the watermelon using the ShotCarver. Insert the bottle of vodka into the hole, we recommend using a 375ml bottle. Let the vodka bottle sit overnight to let the vodka absorb into the fruit. This can sometimes take up to two days depending on the size of your vodka bottle and your watermelon. Then, simply cut the watermelon and serve.

Dodgers Do Away With Tailgating Before Games

Manny Ramirez Stadium FightIf you are thinking about getting down to Dodger Stadium before game time to sip down some American brouhaha before watching America's pastime, think again! We can't help but think it had something to do with the moron dressed up as Manny Ramirez who threw his beer at the cop, causing a melee during the final game of the N.L.C.S. last year. As Pam said on "The Office" on Thursday night, "When a child gets behind the wheel of a car, and runs the car into a tree, you don't blame the child. He didn't know any better. You blame the 30-year-old woman, who got in the passenger seat and said 'Drive, kid.'" Here is the official statement from the organization:

Playboy Names Miami Top Party School of 2009

Playboy Party School ListLast week, Playboy unveiled its annual "Top Party Schools" list, and perennial '80s party school, Miami, ended up on top. The magazine collected information from its staff writers and photographers, campus representatives, and thousands of college students. Rankings were "scientifically" based on bikini (scenery), campus, sports, sex, and brains. Yes, they added brains this year.

Anytime you release a list such as this one, the debates can rage on for months, or until next year's list is released. So let the debate begin!

Here's the 2009 Top 10 Party School list from Playboy:

OSU Shuts Down HineyGate...Sad

OSU HineyGateAfter 26 years of entertaining tailgaters, HineyGate, a.k.a. the parking lot outside the Holiday Inn on W. Lane Avenue, will close its doors forever. The Ohio State University has bought the 243-room hotel in order to convert it into a residence for more than 450 students, and some OSU alums and fans are calling “FOUL!” HineyGate has become known as one of college football’s greatest tailgating parties. Fall Saturdays would draw thousands of fans, vendors, and bands to this premiere tailgating spot. There is no word on a change of venue for this event.

On The Prowl with the PantherFanz

Carolina PantherFanz Tailgate BusThe road to the creation of a Tailgate Machine comes with many obstacles. For some it could be money, space, time, or technical know-how, but for James Hastings and his buddies it was their wives. His dream was to have a self contained party bus that would eliminate a lot of the pre and post game preparation that took place at his house. James belongs to a tailgate group called the PantherFanz, which was increasing in size yearly, adding to the prep time getting ready for games.

The Grove Song from Ole Miss

A lot of us were fortunate enough to have a little taste of tailgating back in the air over weekend due to various spring games. In honor of this wonderful weekend, we just needed to play this song about "The Grove" at Ole Miss, a ten-acre park in the center of the University of Mississippi's campus in Oxford, Mississippi. Rebel fans converge on “The Grove” for each home football game, and we all know the passion SEC fans have for tailgatin'.

The Muni Lot Browns Backers' DUMDOG

The Muni Lot Browns Backers' DUMDOGFor over fifteen years, The Muni Lot Browns Backers have been celebrating their great American Tailgate before every Cleveland Browns’ home game. Boasting over 700 members, the organization was the first sanctioned Browns backers organization based on the Cleveland tailgate experience. At the hub of this giant party is the iconic leader of the pack, known as “DUMDOG,” which is an old converted yellow school bus from Connecticut turned into an oversized Dumb & Dumber tailgating machine.

DUMDOG, which is actually the second bus turned out by the group, was originally created between April and October of 2006. It took nearly 6 months of sacrifice to get this beast into tailgating shape. When the idea of adding the helmet on the dog was invented, only one question came to mind: “Can we really do this?” But after several beers, a plan was concocted, and work began on its unique element.
